This Full-Auto Gauss Gun is… Electrifying

I’m not a gun-nut by any stretch of the imagination, but what I do love is science… especially when that science is used to develop a futuristic looking gauss gun capable of driving a metal projectile at high velocity. As long as it’s just used for target shooting, it’s a win for everyone.

So, funny thing about that… someone actually made a real working gauss gun and posted this video, as well as instructions on how to make it, online. It’s an interesting piece of technology and perhaps even commentary on the future of warfare. Watch as Jason Murray explains how his home made gauss gun works and tests it out on a number of common household items.

This video is a number of years old now, but it’s impressive none the less. If you check out Jason’s website, Delta-V Engineering, you’ll see that this isn’t the only futuristic projectile launcher he’s created. He also made a coil gun that was actually used in the Batman: Dark Knight Rises movies. Pretty cool, right?

Lastly, if you decide to actually make one of these, please be careful! Secondly, please send us pictures! Oh, and if you’ve seen any other awesome home made gauss guns like this, please leave me a comment; I love science. Thank you.
