THIEF Launch Trailer – Garrett, you Sneaky Bastard

I’m a few days late, so I’m going to say this extra loudly: THIEF IS ALMOST HERE!

It’s true, Garrett – master thief of The City – is about to step out from the shadows, club and bow at the ready, to do a wee bit of sneaking, looting, and clubbing. Maybe not in that order, and actually, he’ll probably want to do these things from the shadows, but still! It’s an exciting time, and I’ve got just the thing to celebrate.

A trailer that doesn’t suck!

Well, almost… you’ll see, or rather… you’ll hear what I mean.

Erin, *completely deadpan*: Garrett, where are… you? You were the one I thought I could… trust…?

Please, don’t strain yourself with the acting, Vanessa Matsui. Don’t want you to wear yourself out before production starts on the next Smurfs movie.

Anyway, aside from that bit of cringe-worthy dialogue, what did you think?

I realize this is a trailer, a simple piece of marketing material, but it sure does give every appearance of being a worthy successor to the original Looking Glass Thief games. If nothing else, they seem to have nailed the town beautifully. The color palette, the movements – which are actually a massive improvement – and the music all come together to weave what appears to be an epic Thief experience.

That is… at least I believe so.

Depending on when you read this, THIEF is actually but a day away. I’ve pre-loaded my copy on Steam, and now I’m just patiently waiting for the clock to strike midnight so I can finally play the game and either be in Thiefy bliss, or horrible and terribly disappointed. If it’s the latter, you’ll no doubt hear all about it here on Unfinished Man in the coming days.

Let’s hope it’s the former. A good Thief game is long overdue, even if we already have Dishonored.
