The National Football League returned to action yesterday in a match where Superbowl LIX winners, the New England Patriots, received the Pittsburgh Steelers at the Gillette Stadium, full with 66,829 fans.

The match ended in a convincing victory 28-21 for the home team. During the game, Ben Roethlisberger was the first QB to be intercepted in the season, while Tom Brady layed the first Patriot match of the season for the 14th time in a row. Brady had several rough weeks, following accusations of cheating during the conference finals last season, but this didn’t stop his fans for cheering extra-loud for him, which helped a lot. Brady broke the team record of consecutive succesful passes by getting 19 passes to the hands of his teammates in a row.

He succesfully executed four touchdown passes, three of them for one of the best sidekicks he had in his career, Rob Gronkowski and the other one to Scott Chandler, who played his first game for the Boston team. These passes gave him a 78% rate of success, an excellent start for an excellent player. “Gronk” also had an awesome season debut, where on top of his three touchdowns, he ran for a total of 94 yards.

“A very special night”, as Brady described it, for what most likely will be a very special season heading into Superbowl L (or 50, which looks much better).
