Take your coffee experience over the edge with the new Ember coffee mug

It’s no secret that Starbucks sells a wide variety of things, many of which people think are completely overpriced. However, they’ve never sold something as incredibly high-tech as their new Ember coffee mug. How many times have you taken a sip of coffee only to burn the roof of your mouth and scream in pain? Or how about the opposite. How many times have you taken a sip of coffee only to find it disgustingly cold? These are both highly unpleasant ways to drink your coffee, and they’re problems that Ember is trying to solve.

The entire idea behind Ember is that you can personally choose the temperature of your coffee and this smart mug will adjust it for you. No more burning your mouth or spitting out lukewarm coffee, instead you choose the temperature and you get to enjoy it that way.

The way it works is Ember comes with an app and on the app you can choose your temperature, name your mug, create presets and it will also tell you once the coffee has hit your desired temperature. It’s made for on the go so it will maintain your coffee at the temperature you selected for two hours, but it can do so all day if you keep it on the charger coaster.

Don’t have immediate access to your phone? No worries, you can also adjust the temperature by adjusting the dial at the bottom of the mug.

So how does this mug actually work? The inside is made of stainless steel and a patented phase change rapid cooling system, which is what does all the heavy lifting. Some other great features include the push to open, leak proof lid (which is great for those of us who drink coffee while drinking to work), a contoured shoulder for easy gripping and when you touch the logo it activates the display.

If you’re no coffee drinker than no worries, Ember works with any hot drink whether it’s coffee, tea, hot chocolate or some other beverage. It has some incredible features and there are currently no other mugs like it on the market, which does make it revolutionary.

However, you do pay for that privilege. At $150, it’s a lot to pay for a mug, especially when nature can just cool the coffee down for you. However, the concept is really awesome and it’s great for people who don’t drink their coffee super quickly or hate waiting for it to cool down before they can get cracking in the morning.

At the end of the day, $150 isn’t a lot of money to bring your coffee or tea drinking to the next level, but if you don’t want to pay the heftier price tag, it’ll probably come down in price the longer it’s on the market.
