Syndicate Announcement Trailer

EA just released a trailer for Syndicate, a successor to the incredibly popular real-time tactical game that Bullfrog studios released back in 1993. This syndicate announcement trailer was EA’s way of confirming the long-time rumours that a new Syndicate was actually in development. Now, I never played the original, but from what I’ve heard, it was way ahead of its time. I’m hoping that this new version of the game is every bit as awesome as I’m told the original was. Being a fan of the original Deus Ex, I know how painful it is to wait for a sequel – or in this case prequel – to a game when you’re worried that the new company is going to screw it up. Eidos did a fantastic job on Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and I’m betting that Starbreeze Studios can do Syndicate justice as well. Remember The Chronicles of Riddick game? Yeah, they did that.

What I like about Syndicate so far are the interesting environments they’ve come up with. They look very corporate and sterile without being bland and lifeless, and I think that’s a difficult look to attain. What I did notice, however, is that one particular scene looks a lot like Heng Sha in Human Revolution. Given the obvious similarities between the games, I wouldn’t be surprised if Starbreeze drew a bit of inspiration from the Heng Sha world hub. I’ll be interested to see what other similarities the two games share as EA releases more video and screenshots.

Syndicate hits store shelves February 24th for PC, Xbox360, and PS3.

    • I agree, I think that if they really wanted to use dubstep, they should have used a track that was more appropriate to the trailer. The tune really didn’t match up very well. If you look at some of the Assassin’s Creed trailers, they use dubstep to great effect. I don’t even like dubstep but I usually find Ubisoft’s choices for the AC trailers quite good.
