Star Wars: The Force Awakens — Official Teaser #2

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, there was a series of Star Wars movies that weren’t terrible. They had no pod racing or Jar Jar, and though they didn’t have the CG glitz and glam of modern movies, they still captured the imagination of people young and old.

Star Wars, my old friend… it’s been too long.

But here we are once more. The Star Wars franchise has been handed over to J.J. Abrams, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens is but 8 long months away. I say this because, unlike its recent predecessors, I’m actually looking forward to Force Awakens. I’ll let this new teaser trailer do the talking.

This teaser doesn’t show much – which I’m fine with – but what we do see looks great. Yes, I could say that Han Solo is essentially wearing the same clothes he wore in the originals, and that Chewbacca hasn’t aged a day, but let’s not nitpick.

Motherboard is calling this a children’s movie, and maybe that’s true… but you know what? At least it doesn’t look silly, at least not yet. I’m willing to give this one a chance, and I have a feeling I’m not wrong.

J.J. Abrams has a huge responsibility with this franchise, and I suspect he feels the weight of an entire generation of Star Wars fans’ expectations riding on his shoulders. We’ll find out this winter whether he’s truly done the series justice.
