Silver Playstation 3 Slim

Silver-PS3-SlimWhen the Sony Playstation 3 first came out, I vowed not to buy it until Gran Turismo 5 was released, which took forever, and when it finally came out, guess what?  I said forget it, I don’t have time for this.

Well now there is a new cooler version of the PS3 Slim in silver, for some reason I’m attracted to silver and might just finally buy the damn thing.  The problem is the silver PS3 Slim will be sold in Japan and for those of you that remember the bigger PS3 that came in silver was only sold in Japan.

I’m hoping the silver PS3 does make it to North America so I can finally spend that $300 that has been burning a hole in my pocket.  The Satin Silver PS3 Slim will be available in Japan on March 10 as a limited edition model and will cost ¥29,980 (about $368 at today’s exchange rate) for the 160 GB version and ¥34,980 (about $430) for the 320 GB version.

I totally agree. I really, really wish the silver PS3 is released in North America. I really want a PS3, but I’m still a little hesitant. The silver finish looks absolutely beautiful, though, and I’d totally buy it in an instant. It’s strange that a silver PS3 Slim was also released in Latin America. :(

Maybe Sony thinks us North Americans can’t handle the silver edition?

I just don’t get it. Nintendo offers the Wii in white, black, or red models. Microsoft offered (for a while) the Xbox 360 in black or the Halo: Reach silver model (now it’s just the glossy or matte finish). At least there’s a choice. Sony has been offering every PS3 model in just plain black in North America. Even Europe gets different colors. It’s quite frustrating, and what’s worse is that it’s possible Sony might release a silver or white PS3 once I’ve bought a black one. It happens every time.

Yeah I don’t get it, I know people will snap them up pretty fast if Sony decided to bring them here and you’re right about “what’s worse is that it’s possible Sony might release a silver or white PS3 once I’ve bought a black one…” This type of stuff happens to me too quite often.

Yup, Nintendo is totally notorious when it comes to that. They always release a multitude of colors a few years down the line but initially only release one or two colors. At least they do offer variations in North America, unlike Sony. I really like how the Satin Silver color reminds me of the PlayStation. I’m probably just going to get a PS3 this summer, regardless of Sony’s plans. I highly doubt they’ll ever release a silver or white PS3 here. They never did it with the older models. What are your thoughts? Are you going to wait?

Sony begin the appropriate aggregate of hardware for outstanding gameplay, so it makes added sense to clarify the accepted technology than to alpha from scratch with absolutely new components.
