Scamander – Amphibious All-Terrain Vehicle

The Scamander all-terrain amphibious vehicle is the creation of Peter Wheeler, former owner of British sports car maker TVR. The unique looking vehicle is built to perform on the road, rough terrain, and even on water. The Scamander concept started back in 2003 but Peter Wheeler never did see the completion of the project as he passed away in 2009.

Wheeler’s wife and a team of engineers continued to work on the project to completion as Peter Wheeler would have wanted. Although the Scamander performs very well off-road, the vehicle is actually rear-wheel drive and powered by a 3.0-liter Ford Duratec V6 and features a four-speed automatic gearbox.

Despite weighing in at 1.6 tons, the vehicle can to the 0-60 in eight seconds on the road and hit a top speed of 120mph while having a cruising speed of 6 knots on water. Watch the video below of Harry Metcalfe as he talks about the history of the Scamander and takes it for a test drive.
