Rock On! It’s Time To Finally Pick Up An Instrument

Music is one of those things that really does bring just about everyone together. After all, some people love reading; other’s don’t. Some people adore looking at works of art; other’s find them utterly boring. However, you’re almost never going to find anyone who can honestly say that they don’t like as least some music. No matter what your tastes are, the truth is that music stirs something deep inside all of us. Of course, for a lot of us, listening and appreciating music is as far as things go. If that’s the case for you, then why not stop sitting in the audience and pick up and instrument instead? Here are three of the best instruments for those who’ve never even tried to play before.

Drums

There’s a pretty good case to be made that drums out date just about any other instrument on the planet. After all, what could be more simple than finding a stick and hitting something else with it to make a noise. Of course, modern drum kits are a fair bit more complicated than that. There are even electronic options so that you can play the drums without disturbing anyone. Many of these electronic kits sound absolutely fantastic through headphones, and your neighbours are going to be incredibly grateful for it.

Guitar

Ah, the classic! The instrument that just about every kid picks up with a head full of dreamed of being a rockstar. There’s just something incredibly cool about the guitar as an instrument. Not only that but there are so many possibilities when it comes to the ways to play. You could get an acoustic guitar to strum while you sing your favourite songs, or you could get an electric and learn to shred like some of the true greats! The reality of the guitar is that the kinds of sounds that you want to create with usually come down to what kind of styles you really care about.

Keyboard

Of course, if you want to be able to make a lot of different styles then the keyboard is pretty much unbeatable. Sure, you might have taken a few piano lessons and become very frustrated with it. But with the keyboard, your options for expressing yourself becoming huge. After all, most modern keyboards have so many settings that you can make just about any noise you want. Do you want to sound like a trumpet? No problem! A violin? Easy! A whole range of strange and bizarre sounds that you’ve never heard before? Go for it! The reality is that electronic music has allowed more people than ever to express themselves and be incredibly creative with how they make their own music.

Of course, it’s important to remember that, matter what instrument you choose, you’re almost certainly going to be pretty terrible when you first start. However, putting in the time and effort and slowly hearing yourself improve really is one of the most satisfying things in the world. Besides, as long as you stick with it, you’ll be a virtuoso before you know it!

  1. You’re so right dude, everybody likes music! One thing though, you listed 3 instruments that are losing the battle versus electronic music, Nuff said, maybe you should include some of those “Instruments” edm uses?

About guitars, I recently picked up an used one, it’s not the best guitar ever but it is so much fun! And yeah, I suck so bad at it haha.
