ROA’s Street Art – Australian Outback and Beyond

I’ve never been much into the street art scene. In fact, I haven’t really been into it at all. If you were to ask me to name five street artists off the top of my head, I could only name three. Two of them, because I wrote about them (Os + Gemos) and one because he’s very well known; Banksy. Though my knowledge is lacking, I love much of the work I see, and slowly but surely I’m exposing myself to more of it. Today I’m showing off an artist I found who goes by the name (street name?) of ROA. His work is incredible, especially if you like animals.

This entire set – if you can call it that – is of ROA’s work from Australia, and the animals are appropriately Australian themed. ROA’s work features Bilby’s, which I had never heard of, and more wholesome animals, such as kangaroos (both dead and alive) and emus. All of the pieces look fantastic, and ROA has integrated them into the buildings and heaps of scrap metal in very interesting ways.

What an interesting collection, no? I saved the “Australian outback” looking shorts for last, as they’re my favourite by far. Though all the pieces are incredible, I really like the combination of vibrant scenery mixed with the black and white of both pieces. The scenes remind me a lot of The Road Warrior, especially the second one of the rusted out car. Excellent work all around.

If you’re looking for more work by ROA, you’re in luck. ROA has done an incredible amount of paintings the world over, and you can see many of his pieces showcased on Unurth. What you see here is but a drop in the ocean of the body of work that is ROA. What’s more, you’ll find hundreds of other awesome street artists there as well. I’ll be featuring my favourite every few weeks, but if you want a head start, that’s the place to do so.
