Real Life Call of Duty Exo Suits Are Here

If you’ve played Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. The augmentation suits or more accurately, exoskeletons, that powered the advanced operators throughout the game. For those of you that have no idea what I’m talking about, this trailer should clear things up.

Now, here’s the thing: much of the science fiction we saw in Call of Duty has become science fact in just a few short months. A company called Revision Military has designed and developed a real life Call of Duty exo suit and it looks pretty damn impressive. But seeing is believing, so here’s the movie style cinematic trailer they’ve released to showcase the hardware.

I suspect that you’re about as surprised as I was to see this technology being used first and foremost by the military. That is to say, not surprised in the slightest. Despite my feelings on the military, I’ll be the first to say that warfare has helped drive innovation for decades, perhaps even centuries. The brutal struggle and competition brings out the very best and worst in our species.

But where are we going with this technology? Are there even civilian applications to such devices?

I believe so, numerous applications in fact. Not even ones that involve killing or maiming other people. Just imagine these being used in a warehouse, or even in space to move enormous loads. Exo suits may be the great equalizer for years to come, the invention that helps stave off human obsolescence to machines. At least, for a little while…
