Rambo: The Musical – You Not Expendable

I would like to say that this Rambo musical is an ode to one of my favorite movie franchises, but that would be a big fat lie. Well, at least the part about it being my favorite movie franchise.

You see, though my love of Rambo runs deep – like a parent is supposed to love their newly born down-syndrome child – I realize that the series just isn’t very good. There, I’ve said it… it’s not very good. I love it, but it’s simply not very good, and when it comes to bad movies, Total Recall still holds the top spot in my heart. Having said that, to the best of my knowledge, Total Recall does not have it’s own musical

My non-existent hat is off to both Karen Hogel Brown and Al Kaplan, the two extremely talented people who did the vocals for this fine Rambo inspired musical. Unsurprisingly, I actually found their heart-felt dialogue and singing a lot more touching than that of Stallone and his female counterpart whose name I can’t be bothered to look up, and that’s uh… not saying much, I guess.

I’m glad that the singing duo covered Rambo’s pain in such detail. Finally I know what drives the man to do such crazy, life threatening things. If this weren’t a movie, the bad-guys would probably, you know… actually shoot him or something!

If you’re interested in seeing more amazing movie inspired musicals, head over to John Andal and browse around. These guys have created musicals for just about every 80s and early 90s film worth mentioning, such as Terminator 2, The Predator, and of course – Conan: The Barbarian. Believe me, their impression of Schwarzenegger are worth the price of admission alone.
