Pickpocket – The Ultimate Pocketclip and Bottle Opener?

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to carry your keys around without them ripping up your pockets, and jabbing into your legs?

It’s a question that has haunted me since my parents first entrusted me with a house key, and I’ve been searching for the answer ever since. You see, there are many key carriers, and I like to think I’ve tried just about all of them – including the ever popular lanyard. They’re all “okay” compared to just dumping the keys right into my pockets, but after thousands of years of carrying keys, is this really the best we can do?

The Kind of Pickpocket you Actually Want…

If you’ve never heard of The Pickpocket from Pangea Designs, then I’m excited to tell you that you’ve just found what’s probably the best key carrying device the world has ever known. Pangea launched a Kickstarter campaign for it a few months, and after helping fund it, I’ve been patiently waiting for my very own Pickpocket to arrive. Thankfully, it was well worth the wait.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, the Pickpocket is essentially a small titanium pocketclip that you can use to hang keys. It keeps the keys nice and flat, and the best part is that unless your pockets are very shallow, they’ll never hit the bottom. It’s true, you’ll never have to patch the inside of your pockets again, ever.

If you’re an avid beer drinker, then check this out… the Pickpocket comes with a built in bottle opener that works beautifully well. You’ll have the convenience of a bottle opener, without looking like that trailer park hillbilly who carries a full on bottle opener around with him.

And for those of you wood-be handymen, did I mention that the Torq version comes with an integrated 1/4″ hex wrench?

Yes, if you ask me, the Pickpocket is truly a work of simplistic beauty, far and above the Tanner goods lanyard I’ve been using for so many years, and for me, that’s saying something.

Buy a Pickpocket, They’re Awesome!

It’s rare that a gadget manages to get me so excited, especially one that’s so simple, but I’m extremely satisfied with The Pickpocket Torq, and it’s for that reason that I give it 3 thumbs up. If you’re wondering how that’s possible, well… clearly you aren’t a very creative person.

For the rest of you, head over to the Pangea Designs website and order one. For $20, you really can’t go wrong.

  1. Chad dude, you really obsess about some weird stuff man, as trouser pocket tidiness isn’t high on most guys list of concerns. But hey, at least now you’ve acquired a beer quaffing facilitator and won’t have to pester your old lady to darn your pockets anymore. Kudos! 😉

  2. I dunno chad, bar the bottle opener I don’t see the advantage of this gadget, maybe it’s simply a case of having to use one to get it.

    • You know, personally, I’ll never even use the bottle opener, since I don’t drink beer. However, I really like that the Pickpocket just sort of clips to my pocket. I have a beautiful leather lanyard from Tanner Goods, but I have to loop it around my belt and snap it into place. I find it much easier to just lift my keys off my pocket and open a door instead of having to worm the lanyard off my belt.
