Pagani Zonda Revolucion – Viva La Revolution

The Pagani Zonda has been replaced by the Huayra, but the company still keeps making various iterations of the supercar.  Personally, I love the crazy, in your face, over-the-top styling of the Zonda and welcome every new model with open arms (in terms of writing about them, not actually owning or driving them because…well, I can’t afford them).

The latest supercar to roll out of their Italian factory is the Pagani Zonda Revolucion.  The car was unveiled at “Vanishing Point 2013”, the international Pagani gathering.

The Zonda Revolucion comes with a carbon-titanium monocoque, which reduces the car’s weight to a very light 2,358 pounds (1,070 kg).  The car is powered by a reworked Mercedes AMG engine from the Zonda R, which is a 6.0 liter V12 – producing 800 horsepower and 538 pound-feet (730 Nm) of torque.  Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed sequential gearbox, with gear shifts happening in 20 milliseconds.

The Zonda Revolucion comes with an F1 styled Drag Reduction System (DRS) that moves the rear wing to reduce drag; there are two manual settings for this or an automatic setting that lets the computer do all the work.  The Zonda also comes with a traction control system that has 12 different settings to keep the lucky owner on the road and comes with Brembo brakes for stopping this rocket.

No performance figures were provided by Pagani, but the quote below should explain everything:

“Limits are made to be overcome. We knew that Pagani Zonda R was already a fast car, the
fastest ever on the Nuerburgring Nordschleife. We knew it would be very difficult to design
and build a car that was even more extreme. But thanks to the creativity of our designers,
engineers, and the whole Pagani family, we created a beautiful object and the fastest Pagani
vehicle ever. A car that I am sure will electrify all our customers and fans all over the world.”

The Pagani Zonda Revolucion is expected to cost €2.2 million, or about $2.9 million US at today’s exchange rate.
