Omega Planet Ocean Sochi 2014 Watch

It seems like yesterday when the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic games were in full swing, right in our backyard.  But it has already been three years, and about one year from today, the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia will begin.  Anyone who watches the Olympics Games knows, or at least has seen, the Omega logo at every event, and that’s because Omega is the official timekeeper of the games.

Like previous Olympics, Omega is releasing a limited edition watch for the games.  The limited edition watch is the Omega Planet Ocean Sochi 2014, and it marks the 26th time the watchmaker is the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games.

Unlike previous Olympics watches, the Sochi 2014 watch doesn’t come with anything that would show it’s an Olympics edition watch, at least on the front.  The unidirectional rotating bezel does come with the colors of the Russian flag (red, blue, and white) on the 15 minute markers.  The case back is embossed with “Sochi.ru 2014” and the Olympics rings, the outer ring has “Si14” and the limited edition number of the watch engraved on it.

There is also a limited edition ladies version of the 2014 Olympics watch, which comes in a 37.5 mm stainless steel case with a white dial and a white leather strap.  The watch is powered by Omega caliber 8520 Co-Axial movement with Si14 silicon balance spring.  Both the men’s and women’s Omega Olympics watches will be limited to 2014 pieces each, no word on prices yet.
