All-New Kia Sedona Is Finally Ready

The previous generation Kia Sedona was in need of a major facelift and after many delays, the all-new 2015 Kia Sedona has finally shown its face and is ready to greet everyone at the New York Auto Show. Also known as the Kia Carnival in Europe and other parts of the world, the vehicle has been completely redesigned from the outside and inside under the supervision of Peter Schreyer.

In terms of looks, the previous generation and the all-new Kia Sedona can’t even be compared. The vehicle now features a sleek front fascia with its cab-forward design and muscular headlights and Kia’s signature front grille. The new Sedona also has a 1.6-inch longer wheelbase giving it a more fluid look. And a sporty effect is given with its LED taillights, roof spoiler, and integrated bumper guard.

The 2015 Kia Sedona will be available in two configurations depending on your needs and lifestyle. Available in both a seven seat option and eight seat option, the minivan will offer flexible seating and a number of storage options. The second row seating features the ‘Side-n-Stow’ tracked seating slides which folds upright to allow for “on-the-go” cargo hauling. The second row seating also features “First Class” lounge seating that can face the back of the vehicle.

The new Kia Sedona will give driver and passengers more shoulder room, improved legroom up front as well as the second and third rows despite the vehicle retaining the same width and height as the previous generation van. The vehicle offers CUV-like styling and proportions while offering all of the functional conveniences of the segment.

On the inside, lots of improvements have been made from improved quality finishing touches to the technology. The 2015 Kia Sedoa will actually be the first vehicle to offer four new eServices such as Geo-fencing, Curfew Alert, Speed Alert, and Driving Score via its next-generation UVO Infotainment & Telematics system. The new UVO Infotainment also features the Kia App store which allows select apps to be downloaded free of charge from Google Play or iTunes. The vehicle will also feature ‘YES Essentials’ fabric technology which is said to provide anti-microbial protection from spills, stain-repelling, stain-releasing fabric characteristics, and anti-static protection from electrical shocks.

In terms of powertrain, the all-new Kia Sedona will feature a new Lamba 3.3-liter V6 GDI engine which will replace the 3.5-liter V6 and will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The new and slightly smaller engine will deliver more power than its predecessor, producing 276hp at 6,000 rpm and 245 lb-ft of torque at 5,200 rpm.
