This is a trailer for Natural Selection 2, a sequel to the popular Natural Selection total-conversion for the original Half-Life. Unknown Worlds has worked on NS2 for a numbers of years now, and the question on my mind is, are they ever going to get this game out the door? Despite the excellent trailers, and even a release of the beta to anyone whose pre-ordered the game, I’m skeptical. The game has been in development for so long now that I can’t imagine Flayra getting the game out any time soon.
Despite my skepticism, I think that the visuals look top-notch (especially the dynamic lighting), and the game-play certainly looks true to the original. If Unknown Worlds can release a title that’s relatively bug free, looks decent, and has gameplay to match the original (with a few updates), I think they’ll manage to (at the very least) capture the hearts (and wallets) of the gamers who lived and breathed the original.
