Motopeds Survival Bike: Black Ops Edition

I’ve been cycling a lot these last few months. It’s good exercise, it’s inexpensive, and I’ve really come to enjoy it… for the most part.

I live in a bike city. We’ve got dedicated bike lanes all over the place, and they’re a fast way to get around. That is, until they’re blocked up by old people on rascals and fat people riding powered bicycles.

The Motopeds Survival Bike: Black Ops Edition is one such powered bicycle, and I was about to hate it out of hand until I realized how awesome it would be to own.

A Survival Bicycle?

Right, so this is a bike with a Barnett Recruit Compound Crossbow, United Cutlery M48 Hawk Harpoon, Gerber Fixed Blade Saw, Blackburn X6 Light System, climbing rope and carabiners. The bike even comes with a phone mount so you can listen to music instead of sounds of the dead and dying “zombies” you’ve taken down on the way to work.

I guess what I’m trying to say here is, what’s not to like?

Given the dual suspension, this actually reminds me of a downhill mountain bike. It’s a lot sexier, but it looks every bit as durable.

I like to think that humanity has a bright future, but every so often I can appreciate why someone likes the idea of the apocalypse. If it means I get to ride one of these around all the time, maybe I would consider it.

As I’ve mentioned, technically this thing can act as a bicycle, but given the 80-120 miles per gallon gas mileage, I suspect you’ll rarely have cause to do any cycling. So instead of lumping this in as one of those “bicycles” for lazy people, I’m going to consider it a dirt-bike that just happens to have a means to cycle as a backup. It’s much cooler that way.

If you’re interested in buying one, then unfortunately you’ll have to wait a bit longer. Motoped will be announcing pricing on their website in the near future. In the mean time, go tell them to make an electric version, because that would be even more awesome.
