Mini Superleggera Vision Concept

It’s no secret that I absolutely hate the Mini Cooper Coupe and Roadster, these cars just look ridiculous and I wouldn’t even drive one if someone paid me. I don’t mind the hatchback so much, although it has grown fat over the years. I actually used to own one, the first generation of the second coming of Mini, the R53. What Mini needs to do now is produce the Superleggera Vision concept, replacing the aforementioned coupe and roadster.

They say the Mazda Miata is a true British roadster, done right by the Japanese. If Mini ever produces the Superleggera Vision roadster, that crown should come back to Britain, well kind of, because Mini is now owned by ze Germans.

There is a lot to like about the Mini Superleggera Vision roadster concept; it looks like a sad little pug. The car is beautiful in a quirky way, in my opinion, keeping Mini’s design language with retro and modern design elements. The car looks very small, similar to a Miata. The bodywork is clean with a pair of headlights that are found on the new Cooper hatchback. At the rear, there’s a Jaguar D-Type fin on the trunk and a pair of Union Jack-type taillights. The interior is extremely minimalist, which is expected, because most/all new concept cars come with very simplistic interiors.

There isn’t much information available about the powertrain, but we do know it’s an electric motor.

The Mini Superleggera Vision is a collaboration between Mini and Italian coachbuilders Touring Superleggera. Will Mini ever build this car? I hope so, and if it’s built, I’m hoping it’s not electric and has a good old gasoline engine with a nice 6-speed gearbox.
