Mercedes-Benz Zetros – Luxury And Off-Road Meet

I’ve been a huge fan of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class for many years now and it’s one of my dream vehicles that I hope to own day. As unaffordable as the the G-Class is, I also wouldn’t mind the limited edition G63 6×6 but that might have to wait until my post-lotto win. Should that lottery ever come my way, I think the Mercedes-Benz Zetros mobile hoome will also be on my wish list. We’ve seen some pretty cool RV’s and very capable off-road vehicles but to have them combined into one unit is just awesome.

This rugged looking yet luxurious mobile home is a collaboration between Harmann Spezialkarosserien (for the body) and Hunerkopf (for the interior of the vehicle). Yep, try pronouncing those names. The Mercedes-Benz Zetros will be on display at the Caravan Show in Dusseldorf, Germany this year. The “home” portion of the Zetros is 5.6-meters in length and 2.4-meters in width.

The 100mm thick walls, roof, and floor area all made out of a one-piece galvanized and plastic coated panels. Another highlight on the Zetros mobile home is the electric-powered carbon fiber slide-out which increases the living space by 2.5-meters. The interior of the Zetros has Mercedes-Benz quality written all over it. The living quarters features an L-shaped seating arrangement, a kitchenette, a bathroom with a shower, and a double bed to complete the picture. The kitchen counter and floor are finished in stone and wood veneer can be found throughout the interior of the mobile home. Lighting in the RV is provided by LEDs. The Zetros also comes equipped with its own satellite dish and built-in internet connection so you can stream movies and enjoy the on-board Bose sound system and LED TV.

Some of the entertainment equipment is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack and a built-in solar energy system. The Mercedes-Benz Zetros also has the ability to store 300 liters (79.25 gallons) of water and 600 liters (158.5 gallons) of diesel fuel. This monstrous machine features a four-wheel drive system and is powered by a 7.2-liter inline-six diesel producing 326 horsepower and 958 ft-lb of torque. All that power is delivered by a six-speed automatic transmission. According to Mercedes, the Zetros can go into water as deep as four feet and climb the steepest of slopes.

The driver and front passenger can access the living quarters via an entrance behind their seating area. If the Walking Dead scenario ever happened, this would definitely be a vehicle of choice for many when traveling.
