Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe

Another day, another new Mercedes-Benz vehicle with a new naming structure to confuse us all. This time the German automaker is giving the world the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, a vehicle that’s neither a car nor has two doors, yet it’s called a “coupe”.

The GLE Coupe is in the same segment as the now dead Acura ZDX and the still alive and kicking BMW X6. The GLE Coupe is just as hideous as the aforementioned and probably (definitely) as useless. Yes I’m ranting, it’s because I absolutely hate these “SUV-Coupes” and just about anything with four doors that are called coupes. /End Rant!

The Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe is based on the Mercedes ML mid-size SUV, which will be refreshed next year and will have its name changed to GLE, minus the coupe. The GLE Coupe will be available with diesel and gasoline engines; the GLE 350 diesel will come with a 3.0 liter turbocharged V6 producing 255 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque. It will also be offered with a turbocharged 3.0 liter V6 gasoline engine producing 329 HP and 354 lb-ft of torque.

The range topping models will be the GLE 450 AMG Sports Coupe and GLE 63 AMG, with 362 HP turbo V6 and 570+ HP turbo V8 respectively.
