Lotus Evora 400

Lotus cars are famous for their lightweight construction, not so much for their power. The company’s founder, Colin Chapman’s philosophy was small engines with light bodies on cars. However that changed with the Evora, which was pretty powerful (for a Lotus).

Now there’s an even more powerful version of the Evora, called the Evora 400,t he 400 represents the number ponies produced by the 3.5 liter supercharged V6 engine, an increase of 45 HP over the Evora S. The V6 produces 302 pound-feet (410 Nm) of torque, an increase of 10 Nm. The Lotus Evora 400 will be available with an updated manual transmission with limited slip differential and an automatic transmission. The Evora 400 reaches 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, 0.3 seconds faster than the Evora S.

Not only did the Evora 400 gain power, it also lost some weight in the process. The 400 weighs 22 kilos (48.4 pounds) less than the S and features a new aluminum chassis. The exterior received minor tweaks and the car gets a new interior.

The Lotus Evora 400 will go on sale in the summer in Europe and will be available in the fall in North America. [Via: Lotus]
