LG G Watch R Smartwatches

Fans of smartwatches, you have yet another option for connectivity, with the introduction of the LG G Watch R. The name is a little iffy, but the watch itself if not too bad.

The G Watch R follows in the footsteps of the Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch, with a traditional looking round case that can easily be mistaken for quartz or a mechanical watch.

The LG G Watch R is the world’s first watch to make use of a circular P-OLED display screen; the screen measures 1.3” and features a bright display that is easily visible even in bright sunlight. In the press release photo, only two dials are shown, but according to LG, many other dial styles are offered with these watches and the displays can be changed with the swipe of finger.

In addition to timekeeping, the watches also display text, email, call, and calendar event alerts. The watches are equipped with fitness tracker apps, heart rate monitors with embedded PPG sensors, and 9-axis gyroscopes.

The G Watch R smartwatches come in black stainless steel cases, LG didn’t say how big the cases are, and come with interchangeable 22 mm black calfskin leather straps. These watches are powered by 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 processors, running the Android Wear operating system. The watches come with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of storage, and a 410 mAH battery that lasts about a day on a full charge.

The LG G Watch R smartwatches will be available at the end of 2014, no word on prices yet. Via: LG
