Awesome Legion of Doom Posters for Real Life Super Villains

I know right away that I’m going to take some flak for this post, but what else is new? Enjoy these totally awesome Legion of Doom inspired posters of real life super villains. I know that it’s a bit sensational to refer to some of the worst people in history as the equivalent to dastardly comic book fiends, but outside of the immediate humor and aesthetic value here, there are remarkably thought out underpinnings. For the full set of these glorious golden age images, keep reading.

Real Life Super Villains and the Legion of Doom – Gorgeous Art and Argument Worth Subjects

It’s both interesting and unfortunate that as time passes, many of the worst of our real life super villains have become caricatures of themselves, even without the help of satirical art. As history fades out of recent memory and the younger generations rely on schooling and textbooks to convey the atrocities attached to some of these names, the result is beginning to be the viewing of these figures as caricatures of themselves. Today’s entertainment finds that the best way to stick it to the bad guy is with with irreverent humor- and who’s to say they’re wrong? Treating a vicious dictator or murderer as a buffoon collectively helps us to mentally de-claw him. The flip side is that we have an entire generation who is pretty sure that Hitler was that guy that got shot in the face at the movies like, way back in the fifties or something.

Drawing the correlation between the evil doers of the real world and the hugely stylized comic book villain isn’t actually that far of a stretch, as far as personality and back story go. (If you’re not a comic nerd, I’ll help you out, don’t worry.) With the philosophical thoughts out of the way, I suppose I have to admit that Bush or Zuckerberg aren’t what I would categorize real life super villains. However, that’s a matter of opinion that I’m sure at least one militant supporter will want to slug out in the comments. In the mean time, let’s just look at all the pretty pictures!

Bin Laden as Green Goblin– known for bombing things just to see them burn and running away afterwards to hide his insanity

Mao Zedong as Darkseid – known for pursuing complete control over the thoughts and emotions of all living beings in the universe

Muammar Gaddafi as Bizarro – on Jokerworld, the ‘greatest hero’ and leader of a reimagined “JLA” (the “Joker’s League of Anarchy”)

Adolf Hitler as Galactus – a demigod like being who experiences hunger so strongly that he consumes planets for their life energies

Charles Manson as the Joker – he has committed crimes both whimsical and brutal, all with a logic and reasoning that (in Batman’s words) “make sense to him alone.”

Mark David Chapman as Doctor Octopus – stocky, myopic man who is obsessed with proving his own genius and destroying Spider-Man  John Lennon

Joseph Stalin as Kraven – a Russian immigrant lives by a code of honor of sorts, who hunts and purges based on his own ideals of worthiness

George W. Bush as Two-Face –  a gimmick based super villain who chooses to bring about good or evil based upon the outcome of a random coin flip

Mark Zuckerberg as Loki – growing up in the shadow of Thor he consistently felt ridiculed and resentful, and his mischievousness eventually became malice as his hunger for power and revenge grew stronger

If you want more detailed explanations on the character choices (don’t shoot the messenger, okay?), want more cool animated gifs, or want to buy a t-shirt with one of these rad designs, check out Butcher Billy’s Behance page and show the artist some love.

Author, Designer, and "that girl your mother warned you about." Looking good seems to be my job, whether it's working with the site design, or a number of other more interesting capacities. I have a ridiculous sense of humour and a brutal sense of honesty- you'll see a lot of that coming through in my writing, so don't say I didn't warn you if I somehow manage to offend you AND hurt your feelings at the same time. On the plus side, it makes my dating and advice columns a lot more pertinent to an unfinished man in the real world.

    • Mostly because I know that for every person that believes he was the absolute worst thing to happen to America and the known world, there are two or three die-hards down in la-la-land who still idolize him as a good ol’ country boy just doing trying to do his best.

In this case, I’m showing off some awesome artwork- posting it is obviously enough commentary on my personal political views. I just did a bit of preemptive ground work by playing devil’s advocate, simply so I don’t have to spend the next ten years explaining HOW DARE I POSTED THIS ANTI-AMERICAN FILTH

        • Both hilarious, and a sadly excellent point. I’m fairly certain that both Stalin and Mao (especially) are still pretty widely considered to have been awesome tubular guys, in some demented state of mind or another.

Let’s ask the artist if he’ll make us up a custom Gary Bettman one! I’ll have to spend some time thinking about which super villian simply wanted to make sure that no one had nice things, ever.

  1. I don’t know about Zukerberg but Bush definitely deserves to be on this list. His actions has killed millions (not directly) but I guess since those that died weren’t white, it doesn’t really count, right?

PS, I’m no militant supporter, but I do like to support the truth.
