IWC Connect – Mechanical Smart Watches

The smart watch trend continues to gain momentum, and luxury watchmakers are just starting to get on the bandwagon. The latest victim entrant into the smart watch market is IWC Schaffhausen with their IWC Connect device.

The IWC Connect is not like a digital smart watch that most of us are familiar with, the device looks like a small button that’s attached to the strap of their mechanical watches. Teh user still has a mechanical watch but can connect to the “Internet of Things” (IoT), I’m not really sure what the IoT is. The IWC Connect will initially be offered on the ICW Big Pilot’s watch collection.

According to the Swiss watchmaker, the Connect will be used to track fitness and keep the user connected to IoT via Bluetooth and/or possible NFC. IWC didn’t provide other specifics of what the device is able to do and how much it will cost once it goes on sale. Via: IWC
