Isao Machii, The Modern, BB Cutting Samurai

When I think of classic battles between different types of warriors, the first thing that pops into my mind are the samurai vs ninjas. Both masters of slender, surgical like weapons, and both thought to have almost super human abilities. But the real question is, if BB guns were a common occurrence in the time when both parties reigned supreme, then could either of them cut a BB in mid air with a sword?

Though I’ve always favored ninjas for their shadowy mystique, I’ve recently developed a deeper appreciation for the samurai… particularly of the modern variety. As you’re about to see for yourself, Samurai Isao Machii is so skilled with a sword, that he can cut a BB flying through the air, fired from, well… a BB gun of course.

If you ignore the annoying host of the video, and Dr. Ramani – who seems to say a whole lot of nothing – then all we have left is one talented fellow, and I believe that’s more than enough. Imagine for a moment what it must have been like once upon a time, with legions of warriors as skilled as Dr. Ramani. Clearly The Last Samurai had it all wrong, because if those were real Samurai warriors, then they would have had no trouble cutting the bullets in half at the end of the movie. But that’s Hollywood for you, always cutting corners.

Mo Samurai, Mo Problems

I was hoping to offer you more information on Mr. Machii himself, but unfortunately, details appear to be scarce. We know he’s both a samurai and a Guiness World Record holder, but that’s about the extent of it. So in the mean time, I suggest having a look at Samurai vs Warrior – The Sword Dance, which is impressive in its own right.
