Introducing the awesome LG Signature Fridge

There are some things in life we had no idea we needed or wanted until we knew they existed. The LG Signature fridge is one of those things. Completely unnecessary, but totally cool and futuristic, and who doesn’t want that? We’ve all been opening the fridge on our own for decades, but this LG fridge takes it to a whole new level that we didn’t even think we needed. What if you could knock on the door of your fridge and have a light go on to show you what’s inside? Sound too good to be true? Actually, it’s not.

This fridge by LG has some features that we’ve never seen in a fridge before. You know on the door of the fridge twice and it will turn on the light inside and you can view what’s in there through the see-through window. When the light is off, it just appears as though the door to the fridge is black, so it doesn’t look as ridiculous as it has the potential to.

If you’re worried about these extra, oddly awesome and unnecessary, features take a way from the integrity of being an actual fridge you’d be wrong. It uses the best technology and full stainless steel throughout the inner cavity and duct that locks in cold air. Your food will be fresher than it’s ever been with the FRESHGuard Wall and the FRESHShield Cooling.

Not only can you knock on the door to have the light go on and see what’s inside, but it also has auto door open. Much like cars now have auto-open trunks when your arms are full of things and you simply don’t have the ability to open it, this fridge has adapted it for when your arms are full of groceries. There’s a small sensor on the bottom of the fridge, and when you step in front of the step-activated smart sensor, it will project a holograph, and the door will then open for you. If it sounds like something out of Star Trek, it kind of is, but it’s also an idea that you think to yourself, why has no one thought of such an idea before?

If you want to see more about it, you can view the whole video about it online.

So the real question when it comes to this fridge is just how many pretty pennies do you need to purchase it? The truth is, a lot. Costing $8,500, this fridge will certainly set you back a lot, but ultimately, you’re paying for quality and futuristic technology so it’s no surprise it costs quite so much. If you think the idea is awesome but totally unnecessary and can’t justify the price, you’re not alone. Perhaps if you wait a few years the price will begin to creep down. But, if you want your apartment to feel like the Starship Enterprise, well, this is the way to start.
