After releasing several teaser photos, Hyundai took the covers off and showcased their latest creation, the ‘Zombie Survival Machine’ – at San Diego’s Comic-Con fest. The highly customized Hyundai Elantra Coupe is the brain child of Robert Kirkman, creator of “The Walking Dead” comic series. Kirkman collaborated with Design Craft, a southern California based company helping the project go from an idea to reality.
I’m a fan of Hyundai vehicles and ‘The Walking Dead’ series so this project is totally bad ass to me. I always day dream about what it would be like should a zombie apocalypse occur. I usually picture me driving around in a big pickup truck, SUV, or an armed Hummer but I would be totally okay with cruising around in the Elantra Coupe Zombie Survival Machine.
I was going to say, “a few things that standout” but let’s be honest here, the entire thing stands out. My favorite features on the Elantra Coupe include the custom front-end zombie plow with spikes as well as the over the top wheels with spikes. All the windows including windshields feature armored coverings alongside with the headlights and taillights. The roof hatch is a nice touch allowing passengers to fight off invading zombies but I would personally have a roof mounted machinegun to best utilize that space.
The trunk is also outfitted with electronic and pneumatic weapons. And in times of darkness, the floodlights facing forward and back will come in handy.

I’m sure it works great…until you need to negotiate a speed bump, or a pothole, or a steep transition into a parking lot or driveway. Not to mention snow or mud. So, you know, just make sure you schedule your zombie apocalypse for the summertime and keep to well-groomed major streets only. It’s not like it’s a survival situation or anything.
