How To Make Money Following Your Dream

Let’s face it, none of us grow up wishing that we would be staring at numbers all day, or, writing articles that we barely understand. There was no kid at the age of ten who was looking to make a living selling insurance or dealing with AI claims. We fall into these career molds because we forget to follow our dream. We also want to make money and we soon discover, following a dream is not the best path to monetary gain. But that’s not true for everyone.

It can’t be, because otherwise there would be no such thing as start up ventures. There would be no music or film industry because there would be no artists willing to take a chance on making their dream come true.

The question that leaves: is it possible for you to follow your dream career as well as gaining power and success. We think it is and these are the steps we suggest you take.

Build An Online Profile

It doesn’t matter whether you are trying to start your own business or become a musician, both dreams require one thing to gain success. You need to build up your visibility online. You can do this by making sure you are active on every social network available. For instance, if you are a budding photographer, you need to make sure you are using Pinterest to get your photography shared. When you do this, you’ll find your search ranking increases, which in turn impacts your online visibility. This is a way of getting yourself seen and gives you the chance to gain career prospects.

Of course, as an artist you are going to be freelancing. You should be setting up career profiles on sites like Linkedin. This will allow potential employees to find you easily so that they can decide whether or not they want to hire you.

Take Risks

Again it doesn’t matter whether we are offering you tips to start a business or tips to make a living as a songwriter, the advice would be the same. You must be willing to take risks and take chances. If you are starting a business, this will come in the form of putting money into your business idea. For someone like a songwriter, it’s more about having faith in your work and putting yourself forward. You need to have confidence in your dream because no one is going to have confidence in it for you.

It is vital that you can show people that you believe your art or your idea is going to be the next big thing. You might be presenting a business concept to investors or showing your songs to a producer. But, if they sense you don’t have confidence you will not get the investment. They will not want your art.

Don’t Give Up

Our last tip if you want to be successful is not to give up. When you are following your dream, whether to be a published author or the head of a company, there will be hard times ahead. There will be points when you think there is no way you will succeed. But, if you keep moving forward you will soon discover that success is always just one right decision away.
