Hawken Cinematic Trailer – PAX East

I’m a big fan of Hawken. Adhesive Games has released quite a few trailers over the last 6 months, and I think that each one is better than the last. This new one from PAX East trailer is no exception, showing tons of new gameplay footage set to an incredibly awesome musical score. Imagine the world of Blade Runner, with the music of an epic film like The Last of the Mohicans. It’s a fantastic combination, and the trailer just oozes quality.

The Hawken Cinematic trailer begins with footage of what looks like a gigantic mothership, and then pans down to the planets surface. We see a sprawling world… a world filled with smoke, mechs, and lots of battle action. I don’t think I would want to live in such a dumpy place, but I’m definitely looking forward to battling it out there with my super mech.

What I’ve decided is that though I love the visuals – in particular the incredible world Adhesive has created – what excites me most is the incredible music that we keep hearing in the latest trailers. Hearing it makes me want to go to war, at least in a digital world, and the epic scale will keep me coming back again and again if the gameplay matches the quality of the music. If this music isn’t actually in the game, and Adhesive is only using it for the trailers, I’ll be a very sad man indeed. If that’s the case, I can only hope that they’re smart enough to realize how great the music is, and release a soundtrack for it.

Hawken arrives for PC on December 12th, 2012.
