Grow Your Blog Like a Boss

Everyone has an opinion, don’t they? Whether you have an opinion on the merits of the current political party in power, or you have an opinion on the various beaches you’ve visited, you’ll have something to say about something. For most people whose opinions are too big for their tongues to keep hold of, a blog is born. A blog is a wonderful platform to sound off about, well, pretty much anything! Blogging can be very valuable to you and it’s important to know that it isn’t just for businesses. You could choose to blog and share with your friends and family and write just for fun. Or you could choose to gain financially from your blog and gradually make it an income for your family.

Starting a blog doesn’t have to be complicated. You can visit many websites that can explain to you how to build your own website rather than use a blogging platform, which is going to add to your skillset, and you can learn how to increase traffic to your site. If you have had a blog running for a while that is gaining in popularity, you may be keen to learn how you can grow your blog and attract even more people to it. What you have to say matters, and if you are starting to get some traffic and gain traction, then what you have to say matters to other people, too. So, let’s get cracking on those tips to get your blog blowing up all over the internet.

Reply To People

When people take the time out of their day to read what you have to say and comment on it, you need to take time out of yours and respond. Acknowledge the people who follow your posts and don’t just thank them for commenting. Be thoughtful about your replies and build conversation and rapport through them. If someone has an opinion on what you have to say, engage that opinion and learn what they like. Doing that can build a comment community and people will keep coming back and saying hello to you. Ideally, you will be able to grow to a point where you can’t possibly reply to every single comment out there, but you should try and at least dedicate some time each week to have a read through and reply to those that make sense to you.

Social Media – Do It!

Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook. You’ve heard of them all, we assume, and if that’s the case you need to get your butt sorted out on them. Twitter is one of the most used social media platforms on the web today and if you want to grow your readership properly, you need to be signed up to it. Retweeting posts you and other bloggers with similar opinions write is a good start when you get onto Twitter.

Respond to people; both bloggers and followers of your own and watch them interact and retweet your posts, too. You need to make connections with other bloggers, and if you don’t have any bloggers following you, then you need to make that first step and start being the follower.

Post-Scheduling

You may not have heard of it, but you can schedule your social media statuses and tweets to turn up throughout the night and the day. So, while you’re out at your day job, you can still be active and present on social media. There are tons of free websites like these that can help you do this, and you can schedule your posts to go out at different times of the day. The beauty of this is that you can reach out to a variety of audiences throughout the globe. Don’t use the same material over and over again, though. The key to fresh blogging is to have fresh ideas and opinions posted as much as possible.

Design It Right

You should never judge a book by its cover, but we do it anyway. Your blog needs to look good if you want people to click on it. It has to read well, have the right colour palette so you don’t hurt the eyes of the reader and it should be easy to navigate. The design of your blog really does matter if you want to make an impact online. You could have the best, most engaging content in the world, and yet people will not read what you have to say if it looks bad. Sounds awful, when you think about it. Your words should mean more than your colour scheme, but if you’re concerned about how your blog looks, why not hire in a designer to do it for you?

Tone Matters

The tone of the posts that you write really does matter. If you are writing about medical issues in the world or politics, it’s likely going to be picked up by people of similar interests, and so should be written in a more formal way. However, if your blog is a post about fun and humour, then it makes sense to have a sarcastic, dry wit weaving through your words. Content is important, and you need to keep people engaged and wanting to come back for more from you. It’s great that you have things to say, but the way that you say them does matter and you don’t want to be offensive. Your blog may not be to the liking of everyone out there, but you can’t alienate your regular readers!

Consistency Is Key

Growing your blog means you need to keep consistent. You need to post regularly enough that people will know when to expect your words to appear in their email and look forward to it happening. Be consistent with how much you post and keep it up!

Growing a blog isn’t going to be an overnight success, but as long as you are keeping your blog up to date and fresh, you shouldn’t have a problem pulling in the readers. Get your words out there and grow your blog into the success it could be.
