Great Smoothies For Summer

Smoothies are really healthy for you (provided you don’t use whole milk) and there are about a million different varieties to make. But now that summer is upon us, the smoothie season, it’s time to whiz up a few options rather than repeating that same old, same old strawberry banana one again.

Watermelon Frosty

This lovely delight consists of watermelon, maple syrup, bananas, and lemon. How amazing does that sound?

Peach and Lychee

Peaches aren’t your typical smoothie fruit, but they go amazingly well with lychee, a banana and a bit of lime. It’s best to use frozen fruit for this one since the lychees aren’t fully smooth so it can be a bit chunky and substantial.

Avocado and Mint Smoothie

Bet you never thought of using avocado in a smoothie. If you haven’t, you must try this because it is one of the most delicious and totally underrated smoothies out there. It is refreshing and amazing for you, with a bit of a kick from the mint.

Kiwi and Basil

While we’re on the topic of green, kiwis and basil make an amazing smoothie when combined with a banana and some grapefruit juice to add a bit of a kick.

Key Lime

No, key lime is not just a pie, but also can be an amazing smoothie. Tasting almost exactly like its dessert counterpart, only healthier, this drink is amazing for a healthy summer treat. Using nonfat milk, lime juice and honey makes this drink sweet, delicious and healthy.

Tropical Smoothie

Think of every tropical fruit you can think of, throw it in a blender and mix it all together and you have yourself a drink that will take your mind to the beaches of Hawaii. The best combination is typically with strawberries, pineapples, mangos and orange.

Blackberry Smoothie

Blackberries are typically passed over, though why I’m not sure. Raspberries and blueberries, along with strawberries, are all very common but the blackberry always seems to be forgotten. Combined with lime juice and coconut milk, this drink is super healthy and absolutely delicious, with a bit of that sour tang to it.

Pineapple and Ginger

Ginger isn’t your go-to ingredient when making a smoothie, but it goes absolutely amazing with pineapple. With some yogurt and a banana this drink has a bit of spiciness to it that you didn’t know you wanted until you tried it.

There are so many amazing smoothie options out there other than the “typical” ones. Don’t limit yourself to strawberries and bananas, but try something new and you’ll be surprised with the amazing things you can come up with. Even make your own, use your own combinations of whatever you like: one thing this taught us is that there are no rules to smoothie making and staying healthy.
