Genius or Disaster Waiting to Happen? The Burglar Blaster

When it comes to our homes, we all want security. I grew up in a small town in Missouri during the 1990’s and our family didn’t even have to worry about locking the doors in the middle of the night. But times have changed and even the small town folks take extra precautions when it comes to intruders.

A lot of homes have your traditional burglar alarm systems but are they really that good at stopping thieves from doing their job? Sure, they make a lot of noise but the thieves still have a bit of time to do their thing, perhaps a bit of damage along the way, and get the hell out of there before any law enforcement is able to arrive. You still end up receiving the short end of the stick.

But it doesn’t have to be that way thanks to the Burglar Blaster Decintegrator which is a fully fitted anti-theft system capable of protecting 4,000 square feet of space with its four 6oz cans of OC pepper spray. The system is capable of syncing to your standard alarm system, triggers only in the area where the alarm is triggered, and also gives off an audible alarm sound before filling the room or hallway with pepper spray goodness.

After blasting the bad guys, the alarm then resets itself immediately ready to dispense another shot should there be another intrusion or they didn’t get the message the first time. The batteries on the device will last approximately four years and the entire Burglar Blaster Decintegrator system will set you back $595. The OC Pepper Spray refills are available for $24.95.

The idea is pretty cool but what about accidental triggers? The company says the device is children and pet safe but if I had that system in my home, it would always be on the back of my mind. I’ve never had pepper spray discharged inside a home so I’m not even sure what kind of a mess it would leave but I can’t imagine it being fun. Steam cleaning the carpets, chairs, and sofas? Plus, the USA works in funny ways these days. I wouldn’t be surprised if the home owner somehow got charged with assault on the intruders.
