Galpin Auto Sports, yes the same people that “pimped” teenagers’ rides on MTV’s “Pimp My Ride” show hosted by “X to tha Z, Xzibit”, present the production version of the Galpin Auto Sports Rocket Mustang. No, you won’t find tacky interiors with disco balls, cotton candy machines, or fish tanks in this car. Thankfully they’ve stopped “pimping” rides and are focusing on real customization work.
The GAS Rocket is based on the 6th generation Ford Mustang and the tuned car is called the “ultimate American muscle car” by the company. The car is powered by a supercharged V8 engine that produces 725 horsepower, which makes it a direct competitor to the 707 HP Dodge Challenger Hellcat.
The car was designed with help from Henrik Fisker, the guy behind the Fisker Karma electric car. The GAS Rocket Mustang looks pretty aggressive, some people might not like the design, but I kind of “dig” it dawg! The car features carbon fiber body panels, a very aggressive front end with massive air intakes, a pair of hood scoops, and wide rear fenders. To better handle all the added power, the suspension and breaking systems have also been upgraded.
GAS hasn’t provided any performance figures on the Rocket Mustang, but we expect it be pretty quick, at least in a straight line. The car is said to have a starting price of just over $100,000, making it a fair bit more expensive than the Challenger Hellcat.
