Four Reasons To Start Following The Formula 1 Grand Prix

Men have always followed sports. At present, I can think of football, basketball, and boxing as some of the top sports that entice men into watching matches/games and taking note of athlete/team statistics.

One successful and high-revenue generating sport is Formula One. Yet despite it being watched by around 530 million people on any given day and has generated almost $400 million in revenue for various teams, the sport is relatively unknown in the states. Besides the high numbers that come with the F1 revenue, here are four reasons why you should start following the Formula 1 Grand Prix.

1) International Reach And Appeal

The F1 driving calendar takes place in different tracks and circuits around the world. On top of its international sporting grounds, it also boasts of enthusiasts that come from various parts of the globe. These international fans flock to races, especially the Grand Prix, which was held in Barcelona this year.

2) See The Future Of Cars

F1 have teams like Ferrari, Mercedes and McLaren that spend millions in developing their car technology. The impressive results you see through the cars they drive in races will give you a glimpse of the future of the car industry.

3) Feats of great strategy and daring

There is a confusing set of rules that change every year when it comes to Formula One. It follows a points system to determine the winners and though I won’t get into detail regarding this cluttered set of rules, I will say that it takes great strategy to win a trophy in this sport.

Another part of the Formula One appeal are the daredevils that participate. There are countless numbers of crashes and injuries from this sport—some of them resulting in death. Formula One is definitely not for the faint of heart.

4) The Great Sights and Parties

The Formula One Grand Prix 2015 was held in Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from May 8-10. The 3-day adrenaline filled schedule that was complimented by beautiful Barcelona and its harem of available sights and parties, definitely made for an amazing experience.

F1 parties are some of the best parties as on top of being exposed to an international crowd, you are also spoiled in drinks and great music if it’s sponsored by a brand. With the cheap price, the heart pumping races, and the colorful lifestyle of Barcelona in your hands, a stay at Costa Brava resulted in the most cost efficient race week.

  1. Faisal,

Have to disagree with you buddy as F1 is interminably boring to watch. How often does the pole sitter win the race? On numerous tracks overtaking opportunities are virtually non-existent, plus ordinarily one team has a clear technological advantage (every year) and wipes the floor with the other teams. This season Mercedes are dominant and will win the constructors championship with either Hamilton or Rosberg becoming the drivers champion. For REAL racing and plenty of overtaking watch the MSA British Touring Car Championship instead (Google BTCC). BTCC races are hugely entertaining and involve real competitive racing between drivers in equally matched cars.

    Cheers,
    Andy.

    • I did use to watch BTCC and other races where real racing took place, unfortunately, with the demise of Speed Channel, the only racing I can watch on TV is F1. I can’t even watch MotoGP anymore, which is a pity as this season is shaping to be a good one.
