In today’s world of social media where we’re ever more connected it seems that putting on the perfect party is a whole lot bigger a deal, where lackluster party atmospheres and pathetic party games can go viral within a matter of minutes for all the wrong reasons.
To avoid becoming a party faux pas via the power of Facebook I want to fill you in on how I’ve rocked a fair few house party events at my place.

An epic house party is all about being original, and each of the following ideas are perfect for customizing to your own skills.
1. Super easy invitations, a party vibe way before the event starts and how to avoid a thousand and one gate crashers
OK, let’s begin as we mean to go on – The Facebook event feature makes things easy for getting the word out about your party.
On the event page you can kick off the party vibe with updates about what your guests can expect and a 10 day countdown that reveals something each day – such as how the drinks cabinet is getting creative, what entertainment they can expect and a post that puts out an update for song requests.
A word of warning however: Make sure you set your event to private and for friends only. Not doing so is a sure fire way to receive a thousand and one gate crashers, a totally trashed house and an early finish after a stern visit from the local police fleet (trust me, I speak from personal experience!).
2. Spotify, Themeify and #PartyHashtags
For the house party that’s truly epic a well-worked theme works wonders. You can ramp up the vibe upon your event page with teaser close-up photos of your outfit as well as adding in awesome party games, a decent prize for best dressed and finish it all off with a well-placed #PartyHashtag and a killer soundtrack created upon Spotify.
3. Photo opps worthy of the most exclusive of red carpet events
Social media is very much all about the pics from awesome nights. So be sure to set up a few photo opportunity areas that work with your party theme.
4. Be bold, be badass and play upon your strengths
Putting on a successful party seriously benefits from playing to your strengths. So, if you’re a super-hot chef then take control of the party table and create some killer dishes. Or, if like me you’re the ultimate Karaoke King, then go viral with a performance that goes beyond the pub sing along with a few professional dancers that will get everybody in on the act.
And… don’t forget the drinks!
One last (pretty essential) tip, is the importance of getting the drinks cabinet right. Opt for the wrong mix and you’ll have unhappy guests or a lackluster atmosphere. Get it right however and everyone will be kept smiling with a great party vibe.
