Felting Art – The Work of Zoe Williams

Here is a collection of some very cool felting art by Zoe Williams who is currently based in Seattle, WA but originally hails from New Orleans. Zoe works with a dry felting technique called needling felting. The needle felting process uses special barbed needles instead of heat and water in the production of wool felt. This technique was originally used in industrial felting machines in which thousands of these needles are used simultaneously to produce felt sheets.

Needle felting by hand is extremely slow and a painstaking process and Zoe uses only a single needle for her pieces except the earliest stage of each piece. All of her art work strictly uses wool with the exception of finishing touches such as glass eyes, beads, feathers, and the wood used for frames on some of the pieces.

Have a look below at some of Zoe’s felting artwork ranging from unique to strange.

  1. Hello! Thank you so much for sharing my work on your blog. I just wanted to mention that I’m not actually in Seattle anymore – I moved to NYC this summer.
