FakeTV Burglar Deterrent – Cheesy But It Just Might Work

This little box may look like a portable TV out of the 1990’s but it’s actually a “burglar alarm” system. This is exactly the type of product one would see during a late night TV infomercial that you kind of laugh at. Although it looks like a piece of junk, the device actually does kind of make sense and could potentially be useful depending on the neighborhood you live in.

The FakeTV is a small box which mimics the look of a running television by using LED lights which beam out and fill the room with different colored lights. I know that a lot of people leave their TV running or even set it on a timer when they leave the house to make it seem as if someone is still at home when in reality, you’re out in Vegas partying with the boys. Plus running the FakeTV is inexpensive when compared to running your full-size TV using up all that electricity.

Although only a little box, the FakeTV is capable of mimicking a full 40-inch flat screen TV. The FakeTV dims and brightens the lights just as if you were watching actual TV with scene changes and commercials. The three models which are available include the FTV-7, FTV-10, and FTV-11 priced at $24.95, $29.95, and $39.95.

I’m sure you can probably rig something up at home as a DIY project but the FakeTV seems like a relatively inexpensive burglar deterrent. A true home alarm system is best but this is an added security which will prevent some douche bags from even attempting to waltz into your home.
