Exploring Italy in a Rental Car

There are a great number of different cultures and styles on offer in Italy, which means that taking the opportunity to go touring by yourself is a perfect way to see the country. There are some sights that you will want to pack in but if you have the opportunity, a visit and car tour around Rome is well worth the effort, and worth the hassle of putting up with Italian drivers!

You will find that many people will say you need a week to explore Rome, never mind the rest of the country, which can obviously be problematic when it comes to making the most of your holiday. There are so many sights to see in Rome, it is probably impossible to do it all but there is no sense in not having an attempt. The Vatican is a must-see destination and you will want to check out the ruins of the Colosseum and the Forum. There is also a chance to see the Golden House, which once played host to Nero. There is a tremendous sense of history to be found in Rome but it is also a vibrant, exciting and modern city which offers a great deal for tourists, even those taking a car hire adventure around Italy.

If you start to plan a route out of Rome and towards the rest of what the country has to offer, areas like Vincoli come to mind. This is where you can find the statue of Moses created by Michelangelo.

See Siena if you get the chance

Form Rome, a location like Siena is perfect, one of the most highly regarded areas of Tuscany. The main square is stunning with the palazzo being a natural draw but you will want to head towards the Torre del Mangia, which offers stunning views of Siena and the countryside that surrounds the city. There are plenty of stunning museums in the region if you fancy exploring the history and culture but for many people, touring around Siena in their car will provide them with the ideal way to see the style of Italian nature at close hand.

From Siena, you cannot leave Tuscany without spending some time in Florence, the city that is regarded as the home of the renaissance.

Again, the museums and culture on show in this part of the world will leave you breathless, but there are vineyards and amazing landscapes to admire as you drive around the area. Whether you base yourself in the heart of the city or you dot around the outskirts looking for the hidden gems and true way of life in Italy, you will find that renting a car to jet around Tuscany is an ideal way to invigorate your senses and excite yourself greatly.

You cannot overlook Venice

The drive from Florence to Venice is only around 160 miles, providing an enjoyable ride while making your way to one of the most stunning cities in the world. While taking a car hire adventure around Italy is tremendous fun, you will want to get out of the car and make your way towards the canals, stopping off for a coffee to check out the sights and people of this breath-taking city.

This alone could take the best part of a week but as you’ll see, this has barely touched on the opportunities that Italy has to offer. When it comes to seeing the very best of Italy, a car hire adventure provides you with the best range of options. It may be that you prefer to admire the nature of Milan and Turin in the north of the country. One of the best things about Italy is that there is a great deal of flexibility to your trip.
