You know, I was just telling my girlfriend that I can’t think of even a single movie that I’m looking forward to seeing. The next Bond film is ages away… who knows when the new Robocop is coming out, and Iron Man 3? Meh. But then… I saw this, like a cool glass of water in the desert.

Recognize the Elysium trailer preview photo below? Looks a whole lot like that photo I referenced earlier, eh? Like I said, long time coming. At least we don’t have to wait until 2159 to watch it.
Right, so… I’m assuming you’ve all seen District 9. If you haven’t, then hurry up and order a copy; it’s a fantastic movie. But anyway, what did you think of the Elysium trailer? I’ve been hankering for a good sci-fi movie for some time now, and I can’t think of a better person to fill that void than Neil Blomkamp. Though he only has one major movie under his belt, everything I saw in this trailer screamed quality.
Now, though I’m excited to see Matt Damon (Bourne 4 Life dawg), and Jodie Foster on the same screen, what I’m most looking forward to are the visuals. I know, I know… story is more important, but you see, Neil is just so very masterful at creating incredible looking worlds. I don’t know how he manages it, but even with the heavy use of CG, his work (or rather, whoever the hell he hires) always looks so realistic. Nothing even comes close to the CG that we saw in District 9.
Elysium Release Date
Coming August 2013This is the question on everyone’s mind… when will we get to hand all our money over to Neil Blomkamp and possibly fellate him? The answer to that, my good friends, is August of this year, 2013… year of our alien overlords, or at least our Jodie Foster overlords.
That’s really not too far off, and with Elysium looking this good already, well… with a few more months of polish, I think we’re going to be in for a real treat come August.

District 9 was one of the all time greats and the ending practically begs for a sequel. I spent hours searching for a sequel in novel/book form after seeing D9 the first time. I still live in hope. What a read/movie that would be.
As for Elysium I’m already committed to watch it in the movies. Love the trailer. Matt Damon is a legend in the making (seems to get better and better) and Jodie seems to make her characters and movies somewhat special.
No chickens counted yet but must be worth an entry fee, box of popcorn and a coke at the very least.
Completely agree all around. Aside from District 10, what I would really like to see is a movie set on Mars, where humanity is first colonizing the planet. I think Neil could do a killer job on something like that.
