E-Cigarettes – Benefits And Little-Known Facts

As mentioned in some of my previous articles on electronic cigarettes, I’m not a smoker but I do enjoy the occasional session of Hookah or a few drags of a nicotine-free electronic cigarette. Thankfully I never picked up on the habit and I’ve somehow managed to get my mother-in-law, father-in-law, two brother-in-laws, and a sister-in-law off of the traditional cigarettes and on to electronic cigarettes. They haven’t quit smoking but at least they are getting their nicotine fix via a less harmful method.

E-cigarettes are so popular that there are even physical stores selling nothing but electronic cigarettes. It’s big business and continuing to grow. There are a number of reasons why electronic cigarettes are becoming more and more popular and stores like VIP Electronic Cigarette are popping up all over the internet.

So why are electronic cigarettes so popular? For starters, smoking related illnesses are responsible for one out of every five deaths in the United States (that’s 480,000 deaths). Smoking tobacco causes more deaths in the US than all of the following combined: HIV, illegal drug use, firearm-related incidents, alcohol use, and car accidents.

Did you know that cigarette smoke contains more than 4,000 different chemicals? Of those, 69 of them are known carcinogens. Studies are currently being conducted on electronic cigarettes for any health concerns but the industry to too new to know the true long-term implications of vaping liquid nicotine.

No Smoke Smell
E-cigarettes do not emit any irritating smoke smell which sticks to your clothing, body, furniture, and walls. If anything, these devices emit a sweet aroma depending on the flavor you are smoking and it’s quite a pleasant smell. You will also notice that smoking e-cigarettes will not cause your teeth to stain yellow and the same applies to your fingertips.

Reduced Costs
Why spend more when you don’t have to?
People who smoke one pack per day usually spend about $2,600 per year just on cigarettes with the average price being $7.16 in the US. The most inexpensive cigarettes are in Missouri at $5.25 per pack while New York is the most expensive at $12.85 per pack. Just by making the switch to electronic cigarettes, on average you will save 50 percent. Start purchasing e-liquids in bulk, you can easily save up to 75 percent!

Control, Reduce, Quit
One of the beautiful things about ‘vaping‘ is that the cartridges and e-liquids come in various levels of nicotine strength ranging from zero to high. This gives you control over what you put into your body. You can start off with the same nicotine level as a traditional cigarette and then gradually decrease the dosage of nicotine level if your intention is to quit. And remember, you are not putting as many chemicals into your body with e-cigarettes and you don’t have to worry about ash or smoking indoors.

Be Kind To The Environment
Do you know that in the US, there are 7,600 smoking-related fires in homes every year and smoking is the leading cause of home fire deaths? And of these fires, 24 percent are started in the bedroom. With electronic cigarettes, these risks are reduced by a significant amount although there have been rumors that some fires have been caused by over heating batteries on e-cigarettes. It may be possible but it’s probably as common as those “exploding cell phone batteries”.

Socially Acceptable
These days, cigarette smokers are sometimes the victims of “discrimination”. I’ll use that term lightly here. There are many rules, bylaws, and laws put in place that force smokers to light up a cigarette far away from buildings and go to an isolated area. The smokers have a right to smoke but the general public also has the right to not inhale secondhand smoke. With e-cigs, you can be with company without having to worry about offending them with any type of secondhand smoke as what you exhale is simply vapor.

Whether you’re a casual smoker or a regular smoker, the best idea of course is to simply give up the entire idea of smoking but that’s easier said than done. But if you’re trying to quit, I would highly recommend making the switch to make the process easier. You’ll save money, you won’t be forced to smoke outdoors, and it’s less harmful than traditional smokes.
