Dying Light: Gameplay Trailer – Parkour in the Land of Zombies

Between June 10th and 12th, we’re going to see a whole lot of video game news. Why? Because it’s time for E3 2014 of course!

You see, E3… E3 never changes. We’ll see women wearing almost nothing, more sequels to sequels – like Halo 600 or whatever number they’re at – and if we’re really lucky, perhaps even a few original titles as well. Dying Light is one such original-ish title, and though it’s not E3 yet, they’ve gone ahead and released a new trailer just to mess with everyone.

Here, check this out.

When I was younger, I tended to avoid things that were too “silly” or even funny. I was a giant stick in the mud, and it’s a miracle I even have a sense of humor these days. If I had played Dying Light as a child, I would have played it in a very serious fashion, and that would have been a big problem. If you actually bothered to watch the trailer, then perhaps you came to the same conclusion that I did: Dying Light is a very silly, unrealistic game.

Is that a bad thing? My 12 year old self would have thought so, but no, it can be a very good thing indeed.

What the trailer tells me is that Techland, the Polish studio behind Dying Light, really doesn’t take things very seriously. Dying Light looks not only silly, but completely insane. What you say, a game with zombies, Parkour, and weapons that shoot fire and electricity? Sign me up!

Year after year I see sequel after sequel, and you know what? It’s getting really old. We won’t be able to play Dying Light until 2015, but I’m already willing to give it a chance. It’s something just a little bit different. Remember how I said it’s original-ish? Yeah… we are talking about a zombie game here, but they’ve won me over with the insane Parkour and wacky gameplay.

Dying Light, I’ll see you next year.
