Dodge has unleashed a hell of a muscle car called the Challenger SRT Hellcat, with over 600 horsepower!! That’s taking the Challenger into supercar territory, at least in terms of output.
The Hellcat is powered by a supercharged 6.2 liter V8 engine; final power figures aren’t available yet, but the 600 HP is the “at least” figure. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. This is some crazy tire-shredding power; I hope you have a good relationship with your tire supplier.
The Challenger SRT Hellcat comes with various driving modes, traction control, and suspension settings. The cars come with a set of keys, black and red. The black key limits the amount of power the engine produces, disables launch control, puts traction control on full, disables the paddle shifters, and takes away other fun things. This key is basically a valet key, preventing the valet attendant from going all Ferris Bueller on your muscle car. The red key does the opposite and allows you to (try to) exploit the full potential of the car.
The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat comes with a center hood scoop and a pair of air vents on the hood and a subtle spoiler on the trunk. The car rides on 20” black wheels wrapped in Pirelli PZero Nero tires. The interior looks pretty posh with multiple colors of leather available. The center part of a gauge cluster has an LED screen that displays various features like boost pressure, air/fuel ratio, 0-60 time etc.
