DIY All Natural Sprays To Protect Against Flies & Insects

If you’re around ever outside for any length of time in the summer and early fall you’ll know that there are flies and insects quite literally everywhere. More often than not they’re just annoying, but it’s not good for you since there are also insects out there that bite and sting, so it’s important to know how to prevent this kind of unfortunate incidents from happening.

While there’s no shortage of insect sprays from the store, they usually contain chemicals and other substances that may not be great for you. Instead, try your hand at making your own all-natural insect spray to protect yourself when out and about.

Fly Spray #1

What you’ll need:

– 2 cups of white vinegar
– 1 tbsp Eucalyptus oil
– One cup water

Just combine all of these ingredients into a bottle and shake well. It’s super easy and cheap to make, but the downside is that it only lasts for about 45 minutes to an hour, so it’s not great for long-term use, but comes in handy when you’re only going out for a short period of time, such as to take out the trash or taking the dog for a quick walk.

Fly Spray #2

– ½ hair conditioner
– 3 tbsp Eucalyptus oil
– ½ cup baby oil
– Fill up the rest of the bottle with water

Like the first recipe, combine all these ingredients into a spray bottle and then shake to mix it all together. This spray also lasts not longer than an hour, and is more useful for short durations outside, such as eating out on the patio rather than long hikes.

Fly Spray #3

– 1 tsp peppermint oil
– 1 tsp tea tree oil
– 1 tsp Idaho Tansy oil
– 1 tsp lemongrass oil
– 1 tsp lavender oil
– 3 tsp white vinegar
– Water to fill the bottle

Combine all of these in a bottle and then shake. This fly spray works very well and lasts the longest of all of these and it also smells divine, whereas store-bought ones can smell very chemically. You will enjoy it and it will always keep the flies and insects off when you’re outside doing anything.

Making homemade and DIY all-natural fly sprays is a great way to keep you happy and safe in the summer, but it’s also important to experiment with different ones to see which ones work best. You might find the smell of one is repulsive or that one works better personally for you. But the best part is knowing that the spray is all-natural and you know exactly what’s going on your skin. For another insect repellent try this one.
