Creativity With Food by “Red” Hong Yi

Over a year ago, we featured the work of Sliwinski who created transportation themed plates which would encourage kids to eat and play with their food. And today, we present the work of Hong Yi who also goes by the nickname, Red. Red is a Malaysian artist-architect who is known as the artist “who loves to paint, but not with a paintbrush”. The photographs seen here are from her latest project she just completed called “31 Day of Creativity with Food”.

As the title of the project would suggest, the parameters for the project were simple: to create an image of some sort that is completely comprised of food and the only backdrop would be a white plate. Sticking with those parameters, Red was able to create landscapes, architecture, animals, and more.

Creativity With Food

It’s amazing how some people can be so creative using everyday items to come up with cool art such as this. It’s hard to pick out an image I like best but a few stand out to me including the boy with cherry tomatoes balloons, the tiger which looks labor intensive, and the giant squid attacking a sailing ship. The best thing about this artwork is that not only does it look good, it probably tastes okay too. To see more of her artwork and how cute she is, go to her website.
