How To Create That perfect Gallery wall

When it comes to decorating, it’s a bit of a myth that men have no idea what they’re doing. And sometimes the tables are turned and women don’t know what they’re doing, but one thing everyone can agree on is that gallery walls can look awesome, but they can be pretty hard to make. Gallery walls are awesome because they can be so diverse and focus on literally anything you want and they can look really great in the home, but only if they’re done right. So here are some tips to help you create your own awesome gallery wall about whatever it is you desire.

One Main Item
Whether your gallery wall is going to be about cars, guns, yourself or even your family, the one thing it needs is a centerpiece. Don’t misunderstand me though; a centerpiece doesn’t need to be in the center of the wall, it just needs to be the focus. Not only the focus, but the theme that everything else is based around. This could be a photo of you, your whole family, your favorite car, even your diploma, whatever, as long as everything else on the wall can be tied back to that, you’re good to go.

Pick A Color Palette
I know, the words “color palette” just sound pretentious, but you can’t have a good gallery wall without a cohesive color theme. You can’t put orange with pink (well you could, but I’d advise against it) and you also probably shouldn’t mix blues with red and oranges. Color is important because one wrong step and it could throw the whole look. Try to stay neutral and with colors that go well together like black, silver and white, or blue and purple, pastels or deep maroons and purples, etc.

Use Different Shapes
The one mistake a lot of people make with gallery walls is using cluster frames. Cluster frames are great, but they’re also boring. Branch out and don’t just stick to the typical rectangular photo frame shape, try ovals, even a diamond, it doesn’t really matter. But this variety will make it much more pleasing and interesting to look at.

Plan The Layout Beforehand
A big mistake you can make with a gallery wall is just winging it. Plan out what frames and shapes and sizes you’re going to use, and then lay them out on the floor in the way you think they look best. This way it’s not permanent and you can mix it around until you find exactly what you want. Then you can easily put it on the wall and not have to worry about unnecessary extra nail holes.

Gallery walls are fantastic ways to add to a living space, but you need to do them correctly in order for them to be effective. Follow these simple guidelines and your gallery wall will be the hit of your home.
