Christophe Claret Poker Watch

A couple of years ago Christophe Claret showcased their Blackjack watch, a watch that not only had a playable game of blackjack but also a dice game and a roulette wheel. Earlier this year, the Swiss watchmaker showcased their latest card game watch, the Christophe Claret Poker watch.

Christophe Claret Poker watch lets three players play a game of Texas Hold’em poker, with all the rules of the card game. The watch is capable of 32,768 different card combinations for each player.

The way a game is played is pretty simple; three players sit in three corners with each facing their own card windows, placed at about 1 o’clock, 10 o’clock, and 6 o’clock position. The dealer’s cards are laid out in a window spanning across the watch dial. The player windows are louvered so they can’t see each other’s cards. The cards are dealt by pressing the pusher which spins the four discs with card inside the movement.

The concept of this watch is pretty impressive, but in reality this watch is an exercise in engineering and design, and more along the lines of “because we can”. The watch is too small to play a meaningful game of poker and would you really want your friends getting too close to or touching your watch that probably has a price tag of somewhere around the $200,000 mark? I wouldn’t.

But it’s still a cool watch and the amount of work that goes into making something like this is commendable, it took the watchmaker three years to work out the design. The watch itself is pretty attractive, with white gold/grade 5 titanium and rose gold/grade 5 titanium finishes. The watches come with black leather straps with red or orange stitching and AR coated sapphire crystal on the front and the back. Just like the Blackjack watch, the back of this watch also comes with a playable roulette game.

The Christophe Claret Poker watches are powered by self-winding automatic movements that consist of 655 components. The watches are limited to 80 pieces, 20 in each of the four color/finish combinations. Via: CC
