Chevrolet Colorado Performance Concept For SEMA Show

When I think of American trucks, the first brands that come to mind are usually Ford and Dodge. Of course there is a huge following for the Chevy’s and GMC trucks as well but I was never interested in their trucks until the last couple of years when they started to step their game up. Here is a great example of the Chevrolet Colorado Performance Concept for the 2014 SEMA Show.

Chevrolet has teamed up with motocross legend Ricky Carmichael, to build the mid-size Colorado Performance Concept tailored to cycling and motorcycling enthusiasts. They went with the mid-size vehicle as it was deemed as more maneuverable compared to the full-size Chevy Silverado. The Chevrolet Colorado features a cargo bed that’s still large enough to haul a motocross bike as well as a mountain bike yet powerful enough to take them to hard to reach areas.

The Chevrolet Colorado Performance Concept features special equipment to help facilitate the mounting of bikes in the cargo bed area. For starters, the truck has a concept tailgate extender which helps in securing the bikes as well as standard CornerStep rear bumper which allows for easy access to the bed.

The concept mounting is designed so that larger items such as motocross bikes, bicycles, boards, and kayaks are placed above the bed which leaves room for smaller gear such as sleeping bags and tents in the bed. According to Chevrolet, the truck is even able to accommodate 4×8-foot sheets of wood above the wheelhouses.

As one can see, the truck has pretty bold styling and an attention grabbing color scheme. The truck features a matte gray paint job, high-gloss silver, yellow accents, and a graphic of Carmichael’s signature. The Colorado Performance Concept sits on 17-inch Z71 aluminum wheels featuring bright yellow highlights which are wrapped in Goodyear Duratec off-road tires. The vehicle also features a concept sports bar. Although not pictured, the interior also features yellow accents along with Carmichael’s racing number 4 embroidered onto the headrests of the front seats.

This performance concept Colorado is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine producing 305 horsepower and features a performance exhaust system. Overall, it’s a handsome truck but I would like it even more if the yellow accents were toned down a bit.
