Travel

Time and mobility are signs of the new rich, and given our affinity for globe-trotting, you’ll be able to share in our adventures through a series of drunken photos and videos. Oh, and we’ll try to post travel tips as well. Suggestions on places to stay, restaurants to dine at, and clubs to party at. The world is your oyster.

Mike Barish talks about daycations

In an earlier post, I talked about the benefits of planning your weekend ahead of time, but what if you want to do more than spend a night on the town with friends? That’s where travel guru Mike Barish comes in. In this video, Mike talks about the benefits of single day vacations – or daycations – and provides some helpful suggestions on when best to take them, what to bring along, and how best to enjoy them.  continue reading →

the entrance to the Museum H.R. Giger in St. Germain

I’m a long time fan of the James Cameron directed Aliens films, and when I found out that H.R. Giger (Hans Rudolf “Ruedi” Giger) – the Swedish artist who envisioned the aliens and set pieces – had designed not only one bar, but four, I was and continue to be impressed. Honestly, who wouldn’t want to drink in a bar that looks like the inside of an alien spacecraft? I imagine that as the night progressed, and people drank more and more, it would become even stranger. Imagine lounging inside one of these Giger bars while drinking Absinthe? I can just imagine how that would continue reading →

A View From The Second Story Of D'Nest Near BelizeI started writing this post as I was cruising at some 20,000 ft above the Caribbean Sea, away from Belize, a country I had just spent two weeks exploring. I figured that if I started taking notes right after the trip, that my adventures would be fresh in my mind. What I’ve written are notes highlighting my experiences in Belize, and a series of practical tips on traveling around the country, not getting scammed, and enjoying the best that the country has to offer. If you’re debating visiting Belize over fears of the alleged high levels of violence, I address that too. Before that, though, let’s start with a very brief overview of the country.

Belize, formally known as British Honduras, is an ex-British colony in the northernmost region of Central America. The country was renamed Belize in 1973, and reached full independence in 1981. Belize shares a border to the North with Mexico, and to the South and West by Guatemala. Belize was essentially a large slavers haven, and when the British finally pulled out, the place “went downhill”, literally in fact.  Belize City is continue reading →

Maeklong-Market-Bangkok-Train

The video below is taken at the famous Maeklong Market in Bangkok which is also known as the “Folding Umbrella Market”.  The nickname comes from the fact that when the train comes, they fold everything out of the way and when it’s gone, everything gets opened back up.

It is a pretty good concept, they save a lot of space without anyone getting hurt, except for a casualty or two once in a while; watch closely (middle left of the screen) starting at the 1:40 mark to see what I’m talking about. continue reading →

Finca-Bellavista-Treehouse-Community

Living in the city has its perks but at one point or another you’re more than likely to have had enough of the lifestyle.  How would you like to live in a jungle or better yet, live in tree houses?  You can if you visit Finca Bellavista in Costa Rica, a community built in trees just like the one in one of the Star Wars movies. continue reading →

National Geographic Dust Storm

I’ve never been to a desert but have always wondered what it would be like to be in a dust storm.  Watching the video below, I got my answer: it’s SCARY!

Bob Poole and his team, from National Geographic, were filming elephants in Africa when a massive dust storm hit.  Unlike normal people, who’d try to get away from the sand storm, Bob and his team decided to continue reading →

The Fonz And Alfonso Del Mar Pool In The Background

I’ve been to Mexico and experienced the awesomeness that swim up bars entail, but the pools I’ve seen are downright minuscule compared to this 1000 yard long, 66 million gallon pool. Located in Algarrobo Chile, the San Alfonso del Mar resort sports the world’s largest swimming pool. When I was initially shown this resort I figured it had something to do with continue reading →

plane lands close to beach

There is really not  much that I have to say about this resort in the Caribbean. The pictures are pretty self explanatory. This Maho Beach Resort is located right on the tip of Princess Juliana International Airport in the Caribbean. The beach is probably considered to be the noisiest in the world with jumbo jets flying only feet above vacationers. Because the runway is so short, some of the larger jets have no choice but to touch down at the very edge of the runway. And that’s where it gets interesting for the beach goers who can literally feel the jet blast as planes land and take off. Have a look below and see how close things really get.

A Creepy Bald Man Swimming In The Marina Bay Sands Infinity Pool

The world’s most expensive hotel and resort has finally opened its doors to visitors. Costing over £4bn to complete, the hotel spans over 55 stories and sports nothing short of a full casino, museum, indoor canal, and of course, 2500 rooms. These are nothing compared to the hotels crown jewel, its massive infinity pool, situated atop the building on its “SkyPark”.

The infinity pool is 3 times the length of an Olympic sized swimming pool and is destined to make anyone with a fear of heights shit their shorts in fear. Honestly, I can’t even imagine wanting to swim near the edge. It’s obvious that the view is amazing, but can you imagine being swept off the edge by some flailing asshole? I bet the models shown in the photo were paid good money to pose there. Not because of the fact that they’re good looking (they really aren’t), but because continue reading →
