Limited Edition Hamilton Watch

2012 marks the 120th anniversary of watch production for the American watch maker Hamilton, the company was founded way back in 1892.  To mark this special occasion, the watch manufacturer will release a limited edition Hamilton Khaki Navy Pioneer watch which takes its design inspirations from the 1940’s marine chronometer watches that made Hamilton famous.

The Hamilton Khaki Navy Pioneer watch comes in a rather large 46.5 mm stainless steel case and it comes with a Hevea wood presentation box that double as a desktop clock, which is a pretty cool feature and could be the reason they made the watch a bit bigger.  The watch has a simple dial with Arabic numeral hour and minute markers and comes with two large blue hands.  The seconds are placed in a sub-dial between the 5 and 7 o’clock position with a small blue hand.  The watch face is covered in AR coated sapphire crystal and is attached to a light brown leather strap with stitching. continue reading →

thom browne 2012 green dog suit

When it comes to men’s fashion, I’m not too picky; if you’re not decked out in Ed Hardy douchebaggery and your clothing generally fits and is clean, I won’t overtly complain. That being said, when I saw the Thom Browne 2012 men’s lineup, it reached through my monitor and punched me square in the junk. I scrolled through the images, picturing a horrific orgy where Herman Munster and Rorschach tag team Tank Girl and Pris from Blade Runner. Outside of the terrifyingly mangled offspring they’ve obviously produced here, I mourn the desecration of a cool cadre of characters. If you’re feeling up to it, browse the Thom Browne 2012 men’s catwalk for your favorite…fashions/lumpy spiky monstrosities.herman munster pris rorschach tank girl

Concept Tokyoflash Sudoku Puzzle Watch

I got pretty excited when I first saw the concept Tokyoflash Sudoku Puzzle watch because I used to be obsessed with Sudoku puzzles and I love watches, but it was a huge let down when I saw the puzzles on the watch which are not really challenging.  The idea behind the watch is a game of Sudoku and if you want to know what time it is, you have to solve the puzzle.

At first glance the concept watch seems very complicated and you’d think you have to spend a bit of time solving the puzzle just to see what time it is.  The puzzle is actually quite simple and is only missing a few numbers and those missing numbers just happen to be the numbers that correspond to current time.  So if the time is 12:52:37, those numbers will be missing from the puzzle and you’d have put them in to tell what time it WAS (was because by the time you solve it, the time would have change by at least 30 seconds).  See picture below on how to tell time on the Sudoku puzzle watch. continue reading →

Nudie Post Recycle Dry Jeans

If you’re at all interested in high-end denim, then chances are you’ve probably heard of a Swedish denim brand called Nudie. They’re one of the few high-end denim brands that regular department stores (like Barney’s) carry, and they’re actually pretty decent. Now they’re trying something a little bit different with their new line of “Post Recycle Dry Jeans”.

The Nudie Post Recycle Dry Jeans are made from the carcasses of dead and dying Nudie jeans, and wonderfully combined into brand new, awesome jeans. I was never particularly fond of Nudie denim texture in the past, but continue reading →

TAG Heuer Mikrogrinder 2000 watch

The TAG Heuer Mikrogrinder 2000 is one of the nicest TAG watches I’ve seen in a while and it’s the world’s fastest mechanical regulator watch.  The watch’s chronograph is accurate to 1/2,000th of a second!  I don’t know why you’d need that in a mechanical watch but it’s still an incredible feat.  When the chronograph function is deployed, the second hand does a complete rotation 20 times per second, that’s fast enough to put you in a coma if you stare at it for a few minutes. continue reading →

repair it yourself shoe

Since the dawn of time, people have repaired common household items that are only slightly damaged. When our shirts have a tear, we mend them. When our cars break down, we don’t just send them to the wreckers, we take them to a mechanic to get them fixed. It’s been a long time since we’ve done this with shoes, though, and one company hopes to grant people cobbler like skills at home with their RIY, or Repair It Yourself, line of shoes.

The concept is novel, and even noble. In a time when people have less money than ever, providing the option to easily repair ones shoes could be invaluable. The trouble is that, in my opinion, these shoes are continue reading →

Casio G-Shock GB-6900 Bluetooth LE watches

Casio’s latest G-Shock GB-6900 watches aren’t the first watches to use Bluetooth technology to connect to smart phones but they are the first to use Bluetooth LE, which is a Low-Energy Bluetooth 4.0 system.  The watches will be compatible with NEC Android powered phones.

Some of the features of the Bluetooth G-Shock GB-6900 watches will include time synchronization with the phone, text message display on the watch screen, incoming call display, and email display.  Users can be alerted to incoming calls via either a ringtone or a vibration which can be stopped with a tap on the watch. continue reading →

IWC Top Gun Watches

IWC is launching a new line of pilots’ watches; appropriately name the “Top Gun” line which will feature five watches.  The Top Gun name pays tribute to a place in California where the movie was made myth of the top gun pilots was born.  The first watch in the line is called the IWC Top Gun Miramar; it’ll be launched at the 2012 SIHH (Salon International De La Haute Horlogerie) show.

The IWC Top Gun Miramar pilot watch features a clean looking dial inside a rather large 48 mm grey ceramic case.  The watch hands and minute markers are finished in a beige color and the textile strap is green colored, giving the watch a somewhat camouflage look. continue reading →

Autodromo Watch Collection

A couple of years ago, I went through a temporary phase of collecting Orient watches out of Japan. After five watches or so, I had to stop because the hobby can get quite expensive. I still appreciate a well designed watch but now I just look at them and nothing else. But that’s about to change ever since I stumbled upon Autodromo.

Although the Autodromo is not as elegant or expensive as some of my Orient watches, it is just as eye catching in its own way. What I like about the Autodromo watches is that the time pieces are inspired by instrument panel gauges of cars. If you are a car guy and have an appreciation for watches then this is one of those toys that you should own. Forget that crap about “wants versus needs”. continue reading →
